i walk a lonely road, the only one that i have ever known
don't know where it goes, but it's only me and i walk alone.
don't know where it goes, but it's only me and i walk alone.
there was a cat in front of her. a tom cat. she couldn't tell who it was. a shadowclanner? riverclanner? rogue? he stood up and walked a few steps, flicking his tail in motion to follow him. she stood up, following the cat to where ever he was going. he stopped when he was by the water's edge. it wasn't the river, but a little stream. the same stream that she went by when she needed to think or be alone. it was her place. what was the tom doing here?
he turned around, and she looked at his face. he looked vaguely familiar. there was something about the way his blue eyes pierced through her... hello sparrowflight. he said in a soft voice, she opened her mouth to speak- but another cat spoke before her. hello ravenclaw. sparrowflight turned around her, looking at the cat that spoke. she looked exactly like her, same tabby pelt, same green eyes. there was obviously some tension in between the two cats.
sparrowflight, was invisible in this scene. this was her dream, but she wasn't a part of it. you have a lot on your mind, don't you. do you regret anything? ravenclaw asked, his blue eyes piercing into the other she-cat's.
the she-cat didn't answer. instead, she looked down at the pool, her green eyes sparkling in the water. the other sparrowflight opened her mouth to answer, except no words came out. all of a sudden, sparrowflight felt she was falling. there was a dark hole, and she was going down by herself.
BAM.
she was dropped into a strange territory. there was no one there. no one but herself. there was no sound. no life. nothing. sparrowflight opened her mouth to call for anyone, but no sound would come out of her jaws. panic began to come into her, even if it was just a dream, it seemed so real. she was alone. alone in this strange land.
she was alone.
all. by. herself.
her biggest fear was coming alive. the fear of being left alone. of being abandoned. she didn't like being by herself. it wasn't safe. it wasn't right. she couldn't live like this. she needed to be around others. she needed someone to talk to, someone to trust.
because she couldn't trust herself.
she woke up at the brisk of dawn. good morning, riverclan. she muttered to herself, getting up to shake her pelt. the den was filled with sleeping cats, it was much too cold and early for patrols. sparrowflight tried to sleep again, but starclan wouldn't send her any more dreams. that was fine. her dream had scared, she didn't want anything to do with it. and after second thought, she didn't feel like sleeping. what if that dream came back again, like it had been for the past couple of nights?
she stood up, stretched, before walking outside. the wind blew at her fur and she puffed up, trying to keep warm. she welcomed the silence, there was no sound except for the occasional snoring in the elder's den. the silence was welcome, and she was alone for the first time in a while. there was barely any food in the fresh kill pile, so she decided to go hunt. this early in the morning, most of the prey would be sleeping, but it was worth a shot. besides, she wanted to walk to her stream and relax. she needed to get some fresh air. something to clear her mind.
she saw it before it saw her. she crouched down, all of her weight light on her toes as she crawled towards the small animal. it was scrawny, not much meat was on it, but it was better than nothing. all of a sudden, the wind changed direction, she was suddenly upwind instead of down. the mouse looked up into her eyes, and they stood there frozen for a split heartbeat. almost as if it were choreographed, both bodies moved at the same time. she was faster, however. she looked up, triumph in her eyes as the small mouse hung from her jaws. the taste of the salty blood stung her tongue, and she desperately wanted to eat that mouse for herself.
no. she said forcefully, putting the mouse down and putting snow on top of it. clan must be fed first. she repeated the warrior code, her eyes shining in the sun light. the wind blew in agreement, and there was a trace of warmth in the air. new leaf would come soon, and the prey would come with it. new leaf was the perfect season, not too warm and not too cold, and there was also good prey. the clans would be busy getting fat and gathering herbs. battles usually never occurred in new leaf.
the she cat lifted her head again, sniffing the air for any warm scents of life. there was nothing around her that she could kill. her eyes narrowed, searching the marshlands for anything. there was nothing. her stream was frozen. she drew figures in the small layer of snow on top of the ice. her eyes were focused, and so was her mind. what was the meaning to her dream? who was that strange cat, ravenclaw? and that other sparrowflight? why had she been plucked out of the conversation and dropped into strange lands without anyone.
the brown tabby deputy sighed, letting her tail drop to the ground with a thump. whatever. it was just a dream.
just a dream. it didn't mean anything. it was just a dream.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
i walk this empty street, on this boulevard of broken dreams.
where the city sleeps, and i'm the only one, and i walk alone.
